This week, after we finished appliqueing the stars and celebrating……
We spread out the short stripes on as many tables as we could get together. The short stripes measure 16 feet wide x 24 feet long.
We then placed the blue canton…..right sides together….on top of the stripes, matching the edge that gets sewn together, and using little Wonder Clips to keep the pieces together.
By Friday afternoon we stitched three rows of basting to hold the two pieces together, and one row of serious stitches, we also sewed most of the top hem of the flag. Lots of volunteers worked hard this week.
The long stripes are laying on the table in front of our workspace…..they are ready to add…..maybe by Monday!
