Quilt Odyssey!

I just got back from Quilt Odyssey in Hershey PA! This was the fifteenth year for this fabulous quilt show…..always a treat at the end of July!

Norma Campbell and I taught this fun patriotic quilt called Spool Spirit. At the beginning of class we had the students introduce themselves by telling us their name, where they are from, and something patriotic. The patriotic comments were very touching….we had students with sons in the war, quilters who make Quilts of Valor for returning soldiers, veterans, and a special doctor/quilter who treats wounded soldiers. One student has been interviewing her Dad about D Day. It was amazing….and we knew the little flag spool meant a lot to them.

We got a surprise this year from a young student who has been taking classes from us many years…..she just got engaged! Happy times with our quilting friends!

Our friend Sue Troyan reprised her role as Aunt Pitty Pat and lectured about Civil War quilts in her new period costume……beautiful!

That’s enough traveling for me this summer! Today we have unseasonably cool weather for July…..I will be on the back porch with my iced tea!
