“Marie Webster must be smiling”

When it was announced that I would be the TQHF honoree for 2015, Phyllis Hatcher wrote, “Marie Webster must be smiling”. That is one of my favorite things I’ve heard all this year!

One hundred years ago, Marie Webster wrote her book, Quilts, Their Story and How to Make Them. She was an author! She designed quilts and sold patterns for them. She loved Applique! She also traveled and lectured about quilts! Marie’s granddaughter, Rosalind Perry, donated Marie’s home in Marion Indiana to TQHF.

I am thrilled to be traveling to Marie’s home this week! Many things have changed in the Quilt World over the last 100 years, but our love of quilts is still strong! There will be amazing quilts on display next weekend….one of them is the cover quilt from Marie’s book!

 Thanks, Marie Webster!
